2016 Figure - 8 Rules:

Download Figure “8” race utilizes all FWD 4 and 6 Cylinders.  In this event, it is your ability to out think and out maneuver the other drivers, while being the first to complete the required laps. CAR SPECIFICATIONS: 1. Any front-wheel drive 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder car only.  Four cylinders, four or five lug wheels. 2. Cars MUST HAVE BRAKES!!! 3. DO NOT REMOVE DASH!!! 4. Driver’s door must be securely fastened.  A bar bumper, or guard rail must be attached to the outside of the driver door.  Reinforcements must not extend out from the car more than 3 inches and be tapered off to the body of the car.  Reinforcement is MANDATORY, because you may be hit in the driver’s side door.  Absolutely no concrete will be allowed.  No door reinforcement, you will not run.  Passenger door may have extra straps or ties or be welded solid.  You may install a bar reinforcement behind the driver’s seat, which extends from one side of the car to the other. 5. NO REINFORCEMENT IN FRONT END. 6. Bars must not extend back more than 24 inches towards the driver’s compartment.  OFFICIALS WILL BE THE SOLE JUDGE OF EXCESS REINFORCEMENT AND MAY REQUIRE YOU TO ADD OR SUBTRACT METAL AS NEEDED. 7. Bumpers must be original. 8. Rear seat must be removed completely.  Loose dirt and pieces must be removed from the car. 9. Original gas tank may be used, but must have extra straps.  Gas tank may be moved from the original location.  If gas tank is moved, it must be mounted in front of the rear axle.  No gas tanks mounted directly behind the driver’s seat.  You must have at least two (2) tie downs on the tank.  All caps, fittings, and lines must be leak proof.  No plastic tanks of any kind.  No wire rope or seatbelt straps accepted as tie downs.  If gas is accidentally spilled during fill up, hose out well.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  MAXIMUM OF FIVE (5) GALLONS OF GAS PER CAR. 10. ALL glass, including headlights, and taillights must be removed.  All mirrors must be removed.  Windshield may remain in or be taken out.  Heavy screen or a window net must be placed over the driver’s window. 11. One 12-volt battery per car.  Batteries may be moved. 12. All side chrome must be removed.  All plastic including plastic grills must be removed. 13. Hood may have two (2) tie downs, which will be put on after car inspection.  Trunk lids may be tied down with two (2) straps after inspection.  A hole must be in the center of the hood.  No holes can be placed over the fan. 14. All air conditioning units must be removed. 15. Positively no water in tires.  No bolting tire to the rim or fastening tires to the rim in any way.  Tires must be street legal.  No studs or cut tires. REGULATIONS: 1. You must be 18 years old to complete.  No one under 18 will be allowed to complete.  Proof of age is required when you enter your car. 2. Each driver may enter only one car. 3. Seat belts and safety helmets are required.  Face shields or goggles required.  Driver suits required. 4. You can be disqualified for the following:  Leaking gas, hung up on another car, leaving the driving area, or sitting dead on the course. 5. Intentionally leaving the figure “8” pattern so as to hit another driver may also cause disqualification. 6. The winner is determined by the first car to cross the finish line after a predetermined number of laps.  Therefore, cars must remain in a forward motion; except if a bottleneck occurs at the corner, Reverse will be allowed to clear the corner only.  Deliberate contact while in reverse will result in disqualification. 7. Starting position will be determined by luck of the draw. SAFETY:     1. All seat belts must be in good shape.  They will be checked. 2. Shoulder harness is required.  3. Only seat belt with quick release mechanism allowed.  4. Original seat & original seat belts & original mounts. 5. MANDATORY:  Air bags must be removed. 6. MANDATORY:  FULL FIRE SUITS:  Any fire retardant coveralls or any fire retardant fire suit of one or two piece ARE REQUIRED.  YOU MUST WEAR ONE OR YOU WILL NOT RACE!  This is for your safety. 7. Racing gloves and shoes are suggested – NO Plastic Gloves.  8. Only racing type helmet with full-race shield should be worn.  Helmets that have fire resistant interior – Snell 2005 and up are recommended. 9. Should have fire extinguisher within driver's reach. NUMBERS:  1. Numbers can be of 3 digits and one letter.  2. No duplicate numbers allowed.  3. No fractions allowed.  4. Must be at least 18-inches high and 2-inches wide. 5. Cars must have a 12 x 12 number bolted to the roof.  Should be painted white with black numbers. 6. Cars should have 4x4-inch number on the windshield screen.  7. All numbers must be painted on both sides of the car and on the roof.  All numbers must be visible and legible - contrasting to color of car.  This means don't put a white number on a silver car.  8. When a car is registered in the pits, that car can only run that number.  No changing a number later. 9. If a car comes with a number already registered, that car will be asked to add a letter. 10. If the race officials cannot read that number, that number will not be scored.   MISCELLANEOUS:     1. If you have questions about your car qualifying for these rules, any driver or pit crew member has till 7:00pm to ask tech inspector to check their car. 2. The track officials have the authority to inspect any portion of a car subject to rule specifications for that division. 3. Any and all decisions of the Tech committee as to a car being legal or illegal are final. 4. ALL DRIVERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE SIGNED WAVER BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN, NOTARIZED. 5. ALL RULES ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF MARION CENTER SPEEDWAY OFFICIALS AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO AMEND, ADJUST, CHANGE, OR DELETE THE RULES WITHOUT NOTICE. 6. REFER TO THE GENERAL RULES FOR ALL OTHER RULES. 7. ON THE FIRST NIGHT OF POINTS ALL RULES WILL APPLY!  NO OPEN COMPETITION.      The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for events.  The rules shall govern the conduct of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.  No expressed or implied warranty to safety shall result for publication or compliance with these rules and/or regulations.  They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury to the participant, spectator, or official.  The race director shall be empowered to permit deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.  No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specification.  Any interpretation of these rules is left to the discrepancies of the officials.  Their decisions are final.      Anyone causing disturbance at the track such as fighting, blocking the track, etc., will be subject to 1 or 2 week suspension or a fine of $300.00 or both.  They will also be responsible for all physical or property damage from such disturbance to him or others.  A fine of $300.00 levied and paid before person(s) will be allowed on MARION CENTER SPEEDWAY premises.  Fine payment will be added to the point fund.  The track officials will govern disturbance on a case-by-case basis.      No dogs will be permitted into the pits unless they are service animals only.
