2017 Micro Sprint Rules:

Download The following specifications have been prepared by Marion Center Speedway as guidelines for the construction of a Micro Sprint.  No warranty of safety is expressed or implied as a result of this publication of rules.  These are intended as a guideline and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators, or officials.  Anything not covered by these specifications should be approved by the track officials and placed in writing.  Continuous developments in auto racing and technology may mandate changes in these rules.  However, it is out intent to enforce and police these rules throughout the season. We   strive   to   keep   the   competition   equal   and   fair   for   all   competitors.      To   accomplish   this,   IF   IT   DOES   NOT   SAY   YOU   CAN   DON’T!!      Try   to   live   within   the   spirit   of   the   rules.      If   you   have   any   questions,   please   contact   track   officials   before   you   are   found illegal for competition. Anything   not   covered   in   these   rules   will   be   up   to   the   discretion   of   the   tech   or   track   officials,   without   recourse   from drivers   or   owners.      Safety   infractions   can   be   cause   for   a   car   to   be   kept   out   of   competition   until   they   have   been   corrected.      The preceding rules are subject to revision and will be judged accordingly.  UNLESS THE RULES SAY YOU CAN – DON’T!!! RACE RECEIVERS: All   drivers   are   required   to   have   an   operating   “RACECeiver”   in   proper   working   condition,   channeled   to   the   track’s frequency,   with   fresh   batteries.      This   is   MANDATORY   for   every   division.      You   must   have   one.      Every   car   will   be   routinely checked for one.  Make sure you have batteries. CAR AND BODY: All   cars   should   be   constructed   to   look   like   Micro   Sprints.      All   cars   must   be   equipped   with   complete   body   parts:      hood, tail, and side panels, belly pan, etc. Roll   cage   thickness   of   .065   if   six   hookups.      Must   be   well   gusseted.      Minimum   1   1/4   inch   OD   tubing.      Must   be   4130 chrome moly.  Complete frame .065 minimum 1 inch tubing may be used if wall thickness is at least .083. All Steering and suspension parts that are bolted together must use locking nuts, safety wire or cotter pins. All   cars   must   have   a   firewall   to   separate   the   motor   compartment   and   the   fuel   tank   from   the   driver.      Minimum   thickness .050.  This applies to side tank cars. The belly pan must extend from the front of the seat to the nose of the vehicle. Radiators must be mounted so that contact cannot be made by another car. All   cars   must   be   equipped   with   nerf   bars   extending   to   at   least   the   inside   of   the   tire,   but   not   beyond   the   outside   of   the tire. Sharp,   pointed   edges   or   objects   (excluding   wings)   will   not   be   tolerated   in   cars.      Only   nerf   bars   can   extend   beyond   the center line of the tires. The fuel shut-off valve and the kill switch must be functional and accessible to the driver All wet cell batteries mounted in the cockpit must be covered and vented out of the cockpit area. Brakes   must   be   of   sufficient   strength   so   as   to   stop   the   wheels   in   the   pits   or   stop   the   car   while   in   motion   while   on   the track. Belt driven cars will not be allowed.  Centrifugal clutches will not be permitted. Wheelbase   must   be   56   inch   minimum   and   72   inch   maximum.      Car   width   should   not   exceed   58   inches   (sidewall   to sidewall). WING: Top   wing   may   not   exceed   twelve   (12)   square   feet.      Wing   panels   cannot   extend   over   the   width   of   the   tires.      Height   from inside   side   panels   may   not   exceed   24   inches.      Side   panels   must   not   obstruct   the   view   of   the   driver   and   cannot   extend   past   the center section by more than 10 inches, front or back. ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS: Any   single   cylinder   250cc   production   engine.      Maximum   of   270cc   permitted.      Forced   air   induction   will   not   be   allowed.     Alcohol only.  No exotic fuels or additives. WEIGHT: Minimum   weight   of   car   and   driver:      600   pounds.      All   added   weight   must   be   painted   in   white   and   have   your   car   number on it.  All added weight must be bolted with washers and lock nuts. SAFETY: Seat belts and shoulder harness must be in good condition and race approved.  Seat belts must be dated within 3 years. With   driver   seated   in   the   car,   there   must   be   three   (3)   inches   of   clearance   between   the   driver’s   helmet   and   the   upper   roll bar. Helmets must be approved for competition, full – face shield (min. SA2010) required. All drivers are required to wear neck braces, arm restraints and fire resistant suits.  Racing gloves are required. Each car must have a workable, approved fire extinguisher in their pit area at all times. NUMBERS: Numbers can be of 3 digits and one letter. No duplicate numbers allowed. No fractions allowed. Numbers on the top wing must be 12 inches by 2 inch width.  Any letter must be 6 inches by 1 inch width. Numbers on the nose panel must be 6 inches by 1 inch. All   numbers   must   be   painted   on   both   sides   of   the   tail   &   wing   at   all   times.      All   cars   must   have   legible   numbers   at   the discretion   of   the   scorers.      No   reflective   numbers.   If   the   race   officials   cannot   read   that   number,   that   number   will   not   be scored. When a car is registered in the pits, that car can only run that number.  No changing a number later. If a car comes with a number already registered, that car will be asked to add a letter. MISCELLANEOUS If   you   have   questions   about   your   car   qualifying   for   these   rules,   any   driver   or   pit   crew   member   has   till   7:00pm   to   ask tech inspector to check their car. The track officials have the authority to inspect any portion of a car subject to rule specifications for that division. Any and all decisions of the Tech committee as to a car being legal or illegal are final. ALL DRIVERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE SIGNED WAVER BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN, NOTARIZED. ALL   RULES   ARE   AT   THE   DISCRETION   OF   MARION   CENTER   SPEEDWAY   OFFICIALS   AND   RESERVE   THE   RIGHT   TO   AMEND, ADJUST, CHANGE, OR DELETE THE RULES WITHOUT NOTICE. REFER TO THE GENERAL RULES FOR ALL OTHER RULES. ON THE FIRST NIGHT OF POINTS ALL RULES WILL APPLY!  NO OPEN COMPETITION. The   rules   and/or   regulations   set   forth   herein   are   designed   to   provide   for   the   orderly   conduct   of   racing   events   and   to establish   minimum   acceptable   requirements   for   events.      The   rules   shall   govern   the   conduct   of   all   events,   and   by   participating in   these   events,   all   participants   are   deemed   to   have   complied   with   these   rules.      No   expressed   or   implied   warranty   to   safety shall   result   for   publication   or   compliance   with   these   rules   and/or   regulations.      They   are   intended   as   a   guide   for   the   conduct   of the   sport   and   are   in   no   way   a   guarantee   against   injury   to   the   participant,   spectator,   or   official.      The   race   director   shall   be empowered   to   permit   deviation   from   any   of   the   specifications   herein   or   impose   any   further   restrictions   that   in   his   opinion   do not   alter   the   minimum   acceptable   requirements.      No   expressed   or   implied   warranty   of   safety   shall   result   from   such   alteration of   specification.      Any   interpretation   of   these   rules   is   left   to   the   discrepancies   of   the   officials.      Their   decisions   are   final. Anyone   causing   disturbance   at   the   track   such   as   fighting,   blocking   the   track,   etc.,   will   be   subject   to   1   or   2   week suspension   or   a   fine   of   $300.00   or   both.      They   will   also   be   responsible   for   all   physical   or   property   damage   from   such disturbance   to   him   or   others.      A   fine   of   $300.00   levied   and   paid   before   person(s)   will   be   allowed   on   MARION   CENTER SPEEDWAY   premises.      Fine   payment   will   be   added   to   the   point   fund.      The   track   officials   will   govern   disturbance   on   a   case-by- case basis. No dogs will be permitted into the pits unless they are service animals only.
